I have been deeply involved with K-12 education for 45 years as a teacher, administrator, adjunct professor of education, and consultant. I have observed a common pattern in the implementation of new programs like the Common Core State Standards and Technology Integration. The professional development provided prior to implementation generally does a good job of informing teachers about the program being implemented. Teachers are then expected to develop units and lessons to implement the program in the classroom. There is usually a problem at this point.
